TURNING JAPANESE TIM ANDERSON’S NANBAN POPS UP AT THE PRINCE ARTHUR
It’s not every day we have Japanese maps on the tables, the scent of miso in the air and a MasterChef champion in the kitchen – but that’s exactly what you will find here on 26th and 27th of March at 7pm. Ahead of opening his brand new restaurant, Nanban in the spring, MasterChef Champion 2011 and soon-tobe restaurateur Tim Anderson is set to give you a taste of what he will be plating up at his recently-secured location on Shoreditch High Street.
Taking inspiration from the southern region of Japan, Tim is serving up six umami-laden courses for £29 per person.
Blanched spring onions, wrapped into bundles, served with a sweet miso dip
Grilled sardines stuffed with mentaiko (chilli-cured cod roe)
Pork belly braised in soy sauce, brown sugar, and awamori (Okinawan rice whiskey)
Mini Nagasaki Chanpon
Noodles in chicken-pork-seafood stock, topped with stir-fried shellfish and vegetables
Yuzu-Kosho Chicken Yakionigiri
Crunchy grilled rice balls stuffed with spicy citrus-rubbed chicken
Mojiko Roll Cake
Black sesame sponge, banana custard, fresh fruit, and green tea whipped cream
