London’s Best Bun Fight…The Slider Decider 2014

Patties are being prepped and brioche baked – battle is about to commence for London’s tastiest tournament, The Slider Decider – and you can be front and centre for all the meaty action.

On Thursday 5th June, some of the UK’s most talented and creative chefs will gather at The Gun, Docklands to showcase their slider skills and discover who deserves the ultimate title of Slider Decider Champion 2014.

Tickets to attend the culinary battle of the summer cost £15 and include a can of Hobo beer and two of The Gun’s own sliders. Throughout the evening two contestants from each heat will be holding live demos giving guests the chance to taste their signature slider creations!

From the huge number of entrants that fought to make the shortlist, 16 have been selected including last year’s returning champ Jamie Thickett of Opera Tavern who is hoping to hold onto his crown with an Iberico pork slider with lobster, fried courgette, nduja aioli and a saffron bun.

Other innovative and downright delicious creations are coming from:

L’Anima

Ember Yard

Hot smoked Iberico pork cheek, guindilla marmalade, lardo and fennel & watercress slaw

Hixster

Glenarm Estate mighty marbled salt-aged butler steak slipper

These, and all the other worthy finalists, will fight it out from 6.30pm onwards (doors open at 6pm) in the award-winning Gun’s newly-updated outside space, The Gin Mare Garden, overlooking the Thames, in front of food fans from across the city and a stellar line-up of judges: Rebecca Seal from Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, acclaimed restaurant critic Tracey MacLeod, London Evening Standard’s Food Editor Victoria Stewart and Editor of Restaurant magazine (and self-confessed burgerholic) Stefan Chomka.
