Presence and Visit tracking via WiFi in one of our venues
Our WiFi access points detect the presence of a customer in or near our venues. We use a company called Wireless Social to do this. Presence offers real time data and reporting using WiFi technology, similar to how cookies track user browsing online.
Privacy
Guests have the right to opt-in or opt-out of tracking. If a customer has not opted in, presence can still detect an anonymous MAC address, confirm whether that MAC address is a new or repeat visitor, and see how long that device stays.
By using Location Based Services, the device can be tracked within the specific venue. The accuracy of the location-based tracking also depends on the number of access points in the space.
If a guest opts in via our WiFi, the device MAC address is linked to your personal data.
